The Academy Collaborates on TV Spot with the Rapid City Civic Center

The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is producing a series of commercials about their role in our community and most recently featured our director, Ms. Julie and many Academy dancers in their promotions. The Academy of Dance Arts is in our 18th production season at the Civic Center. The Academy has a long history of partnering with the Civic Center when establishing Black Hills Dance Theatre, producing The Nutcracker and bringing professional companies to our State annually!

The Civic Center commercial spot connects Ms. Julie’s history as a young Academy dancer to the traditions we are able to continue in their professional theatre. When Ms. Julie was 13, she performed as Clara in The Nutcracker and at 14 was cast as the lead in Les Sylphides for Black Hills Dance Theatre, before moving to Salt Lake and performing professionally with Ballet West and Ballet West for Children. As the Academy has recently produced nearly 25 full-length productions in the theatre with our annual spring shows and collaborations with others in our community, it’s an exciting time to watch those early dancing dreams passed along and continue to flourish and grow!

Brava to the decades of Academy students and those featured in this video testament to Ms. Julie’s dancing commitment and philosophy in shaping our local community of teachers, young professionals, and budding futures of the thousands of young dancers we have had the honor of passing through our little studios!
